The Journalist Security Training Hubs Program seeks to enable journalists working in difficult environments to continue to do so as safely and securely as possible. This objective will be
accomplished through the establishment of three regional security training hubs for journalists – El Salvador for Latin America, Kenya for Africa, and Georgia for Eurasia.

Summary of Position:
The Physical Security Trainer, under the supervision of the Hub Manager, will be contracted part-time for an 11-month period to prepare and deliver physical security trainings and workshops to journalists from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala. This position is open to Salvadoran nationals.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Description of Responsibilities:
In coordination with the Hub Manager and Master Trainers prepare regionally appropriate trainings and workshop curriculum for journalists based in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala.
Ensure holistic approach and coordination with the Digital Security Trainer
Deliver trainings promoting physical safety to journalists including: threat assessment; situational awareness, personal safety and sexual assault avoidance; risk reduction; hostile environments including civil unrest and combat; emergency first aid; travel safety (accidents, roadblocks, etc.); and surveillance detection.
Conduct ongoing monitoring and evaluation of trainings and materials to address any deficiencies and identify trainings to be added to ensure journalists receive in order to monitor training quality and implementation.
Mentor additional trainers in physical security strategies for journalists.
Monitor 24/7 emergency assistance hotline to journalists.

Qualifications:
Substantial experience working in high-risk environments or emergency situations
Training in military, guerrilla, law enforcement or emergency first-aid operations.
Experience training others in security or emergency protocols.
Proficient English and native Spanish required
