Responsibilities
The COIN Advisor (CA) shall be subject matter experts (SME) in
the theory, doctrine, and practice of COIN operations.
Specifically, the COIN Specialist will provide COIN SME support
to headquarters, RC teams, and supported units. He/She will
monitor, assess and report to headquarters and RC teams on the
COIN performance of personnel and organizations in theater and
develop and propose testing.
Fielding and implementation of COIN solutions are to include, but
no limited to, new tactics, equipment, technology, training,
doctrine and concepts, in support of RC Teams and supported
units. He/She will also provide COIN field advice and assistance
as needed to RC headquarters and tactical units to improve
operational performance.
They will maintain liaison with COIN training centers forwarded
to headquarters, collect, refine, disseminate, and monitor and
assess the best COIN practices in theater.
He/She shall will maintain continuous communications with the
team leaders and report on their location, activities, well-being
and operational needs. Other tasks will be directed by
headquarters or RC Team leaders.
Experience and Education:-Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a strategic analysis or COIN
related field (e.g. security studies, conflict studies,
international relations, management, operations research)-Previous operational experience in counterinsurgency campaigns
-Minimum of 10 years work experience in counterinsurgency-related
fields.
-Recent experience in Afghanistan (preferred)
-Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal
communication abilities.
