2 x Medic Trainers

The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Training Agency are seeking 2 individuals to join our instructor team for delivering medic courses to close protection operatives.

Applicants must holed a minimum of Cert Ed in Post Compulsory Education and Training, with a minimum of 6 years instructor background together with additional experience as a medic in one of the three arms of the British Armed Forces in the Regular Service.

Additional experience working as a medic in a Private Security Organisation in a hostile environment is also essential for this role.

Applicants must be proficient and able to instruct in the following skills

• Basic Life Support – Adult and Paediatric in line with current Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines
• AED - in line with current Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines
• First Aid Instructor
• Trauma Management
• Oxygen Therapy
• Entonox
• Advanced Skills Instructor - Bag Valve Mask Resuscitation
- Oropharyngeal Airway Insertion
- Naso-Pharyngeal Airway Insertion
- Igel Airway Insertion
- Cervical Collars
- Long Board
- KED
- Frac Pacs
- Tourniquet

• Extended Skills Instructor – Endo Tracheal Intubation
- Needle Chest Decompression
- Intravenous Cannulation
- Intra-Osseous Cannulation
- Intravenous / Intra Osseous Fluid Administration
- Aspiration

Additionally candidates should have the following in date qualifications

• ALS
• PHTLS
• MIMMS


Applicants should submit their CV consisting of not more than 3 x A4 pages together with a covering letter consisting of not more than 500 words stating a brief about yourself and why you believe you would be the applicant we should select above other applicants.


Applicants will be short listed with only those short listed for the interview process being informed and asked to attend for interview.

Those Applicants who are short listed will be required to attend for an interview which will consist of the following:

• Delivery of Basic Live Support with out additional equipment
• Delivery of Basic Life Support Plus AED
• Delivery of Basic Life Support with additional equipment
- Bag Valve Mask
- Oropharyngeal airways
- Oxygen Supplement
- AED
• Trauma Management Session

Applicants will then undergo a Formal Interview

Following the formal interview, the shortlist will be reduced and A further teaching session will be undertaken by applicant to further evaluate their teaching abilities.

The interview process is expected to take place over two days. The first day will take approximately 4 Hours. The second day for those on the final shortlist will take approximately 8 hours delivering a course to our cadre of staff.

Applicants on the short list will be required to attend for interview between Monday the 19th and Friday the 23rd of November.

Those selected to return for stage 2 of the interview process will be required to attend between Saturday the 24th and Wednesday 28th of November 2012.

Successful Applicants will only be offered the post on completion of the full interview process together with completion of a satisfactory Enhanced CRB Check.
