Embedded Security Consultant , Africa

Job Purpose 
This role is responsible for advising on and managing security on the  assigned project, acting as the focal point for day to day security matters and supporting the Client on all security related matters including  potential risks to personnel and physical assets.

Tasks and  Responsibilities 
• Coordinate security for the project and liaise with local and  national security forces and any other relevant parties as directed
• Advise on best security practice for the operating environment(s)
• Act as security contact pivot between project and client home office where necessary
• Create, manage and maintain appropriate security plans
• Manage the security welfare of client assignees and project visitors, including matters of transport and accommodation and  maintain accurate data on the location and movement of  personnel
• Coordinate security matters with client, contractors, suppliers  and shippers
• Arrange or provide, as necessary, country briefings to assignees,  specifically during induction
• Develop, manage and escalate where necessary, criteria that could trigger a client decision to withdraw personnel from the  project area or country
• Maintain a system of 24/7 emergency contact for client and with relevant third parties
• Collect, collate, analyse and disseminate security risk-related  information and data
• Compile and deliver project security and risk reports as directed
• Report to client management on security performance, threats and risks
• Monitor any third party provider security procedures and  performance
• Participate in dealing with third party security and related  suppliers (e. g. security consultants, UXO mitigation experts)

Knowledge and Experience 
• Extensive professional security management experience and expertise with recent experience of working in a corporate environment
• Experience of hostile or complex operating environments and emerging world markets, ideally with knowledge and experience of the Oil & Gas or Mining industries
• Security risk management and threat analysis skills and be skilled in the writing and review of security procedures and plans
• Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English and, dependent on region, one of the following: Arabic, Portuguese or French
• Proficient ICT skills
• Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to liaise with clients at all levels
• Proven commercial ability in client relationship management
• A record of continued promotion and professional development

Qualifications and Specialist Skills • Professional security or risk- related qualifications (e.g. CPP, PSP)
• Recognised HSE qualification
• Ideally also holds an academic qualification in a security or risk related subject (e.g. MSc, MSyl)

• Ability to deliver informative and clear presentations suited to the characteristics and needs of the audience, either verbally or in writing to ensure that they understand the information and the message.
• Ability to listen and respond appropriately to others

• Knowledge of and ability to use effective approaches for  choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions  and/or reaching conclusions.
• Ability to take action consistent with available facts, constraints, budget, and anticipated consequences. 
Excellent judgment in determining when decisions need to be referred onwards for final approval
