Director - Basra Iraq

Job Outline:
We are seeking a Director to run all of our Basra Operations, which are very much focused on the Oil and Gas market.

This individual will need to build commercial and political relationships with the local leadership, many of whom are Western educated although the majority of the population is very tribal and have low standards of education. In building these relationships, the Director will seek to develop further business opportunities for GardaWorld’s various different security products and therefore to increase turnover and profitability. The Director will work as a contractor 8 weeks in-theatre and 4 weeks off for the first 6 to 12 months. Then the position will be as an employee and the individual would be expected to relocate to Dubai and spend roughly 3 weeks in Basra and 1 week in Dubai per month.

The ideal candidate will be culturally interested in the region and will have the gravitas to be highly credible with political and commercial leaders. He or she may lack satisfaction in their current work and will want to take on the challenge of running an exciting business and will have the ability to identify growth opportunities and to monetize these successfully.

The successful candidate will probably be in their 30’s or 40’s, highly educated and have a blue chip professional career history, a natural leader, be hungry for success and also be a strong networker who understands political sensitivities.
