Assistant Operations Manager

Solace Global Maritime is currently recruiting an Assistant Operations Manager. The available position is at our UK Office in Poole.

The duties of an Assistant Operations Manager will include, but not be limited to, coordinating, enabling and supporting the delivery of maritime security services to commercial shipping clients around the globe. This will involve logistical, legal and personnel challenges associated with providing security teams to client vessels in order to protect against the threat of piracy. You will work closely with the experienced Solace Global Maritime Operations Team, who have previously been recruited from the UK Military. However, we are now in a position to recruit from a wider field. This is a graduate level role, however the degree subject and amount of post-graduation experience is not as important as the skills and potential of the applicants. Particular skills required include communication, problem solving, multi-tasking and planning.

Context and environment:
Solace Global Maritime is a worldwide provider of bespoke security solutions for the maritime industry. These services are the resultant product of experience from the United Kingdom Military and Special Forces combined with an understanding of the requirements of today's commercial user.

The post holder will be part of a team who manage operational deployment to the growing Solace client base ensuring quality and compliance as well as control of expenditure to deliver contracts on target. This post holder will be assigned to a particular client desk but will be available to assist as required with any client or duty.

Main duties:
To provide services that supports all Solace Global Maritime clients. This involves:
• Liaise with clients regarding their security requirements, manage expectations and deliver operational requirements. Pro-actively build and maintain professional relationships with clients.
• Ensure that all contractually agreed responsibilities are delivered to clients.
• Manage personnel on task, including discipline and welfare.
• Troubleshoot issues that arise in the course of normal work.
• Liaise with clients on a weekly basis and gaining feedback for continual improvement of delivery of services.
• Ensure the overall image, ethos and direction of Solace is carried by all members of the sub-contractors to an impeccable level.
• Play a significant role in long-term planning, including an initiative geared toward operational excellence.

Accountabilities and responsibilities:
• Learn and understand company Standard Operating Procedures.
• Learn and understand the legalities regarding Rules of Force.
• Learn geographical locations of all relevant ports and the agency names and key persons in each country.
• Learn and understand the procedures for incidents on board vessels.

Key relationships:
Internal: Operations Management team, Solace Directors, Security teams.
External: Clients, Vessel Masters, Overseas Agents

Other important features or requirements of the job
• Due to the 24 hour nature of our operations, Operations Managers are on call at all hours to facilitate operational needs. You may also be asked to work on special projects during busy periods which may involve staying late or working extra hours as required.
This is a permanent, full time position.
