Corporate Security Director

Job Description
The Director of Corporate Security leads the overall management and direction for the Security program in the designated region, which includes the responsibility for the safety of employees and the protection of company assets. The position strategically develops and directs global policies, guidelines and programs to coordinate globally a safe and secure work environment. Responsible for strategic planning, security operations management and crisis management activities. This role is also responsible for leading confidential investigations and acting as liaison with local and federal law enforcement agencies when necessary. Responsibilities:

1. Develops, communicates and implements security guidelines and/or policies for the company relative to employee safety, building access, physical security, use of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and other security functions. Routinely audits practices to ensure compliance. Responsible for Security programs primarily in the North America region, but has global coordination responsibility including direct reports in EMEA and ASIA.

2. Strategically reviews, establishes and implements operational procedures to protect employees and property from fire, bomb threats, weather, medical and other crisis events or emergencies. This individual is a member of the Executive Crisis Management Team. Leads a multi discipline Workplace Violence prevention team, which is charged with the early and safe resolution of threatening or potentially violent situations. Prepares and instructs training in violence prevention with Human Resources.

3. Conducts sensitive investigations relating to employee safety or misconduct, theft, property damage, fraud and other issues involving standards of business conduct. Works closely with HR executives and Business Unit representatives to resolve such incidents in a timely manner. Confers with representatives of local government to ensure cooperation and coordination of activities with law enforcement and other appropriate agencies.

4. Works closely with Security Managers and facility management personnel throughout the organization. Interfaces with Health and Safety, IT Security, Compliance, and Internal Audit professionals on cross functional teams as appropriate to minimize risk to the company. Accountable for the maintenance and continuous development of a network of security professionals to ensure access to industry best practices and auxiliary resources.

5. Responsible for the supervision, development and coaching of staff members. Mentors and develops leaders and key talent. Promotes opportunities for knowledge sharing and skill building globally.

6. Requires up to 25% travel.

Qualifications
BA/BS in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security Management or related field. MBA or Advanced Degree Preferred.
10-15+ years of previous managerial experience working in a corporate setting in an internal security department or equivalent environment.
Professional certifications such as CPP, PSP, CFE, etc. preferred.
Experienced in working within fast paced, complex, dynamic, multi-cultural business environment.
Excellent written and verbal communications.
Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issue.
Proven discretionary judgment with ability to resolve both routine and non-routine issues.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Strong investigative and case management skills.
Knowledge of major regulatory requirements such as, but not limited to, Sarbanes-Oxley, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Securities and Exchange Commission, etc.
Knowledge of business continuity and crisis management planning and procedures.
Knowledge and experience on security management functions to include electronic security systems, information assurance, executive protection, and threat analysis.
Ability to work in a team-based environment with other business professionals.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task within a rapidly changing environment.
Strong project management, organizational and analytical skills.
Proven leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to establish and cultivate professional relationships, analyze both data and situations for appropriate response, positively affect organizational dynamics, manage special projects, and resolve conflict situations.
