WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week
Salary: 1) Annual basic salary for FSN-4, Step 1 is 14,673 LYD (Full performance level)
(2) Annual basic salary for FSN-3T, Step 1 is 12,618 LYD (Training level)
(3) Actual FP grade and salary will be determined by US Department of
LENGTH OF HIRE: Temporary position not to exceed one year from the date of hire with
option to renew.

The U.S. Embassy in Tripoli is seeking an individual for the position of Surveillance
Detection Specialist in the Regional Security Section.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Provides security for USG facilities, employees, and family members by performing
procedures to detect, recognize, and report on surveillance directed against U.S.
Government facilities and/or personnel and provides support directly, or by calling for
assistance. In case of an imminent attack, calls for immediate assistance and takes action
to prevent injury and death to personnel, and destruction of property
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and
comprehensive information supporting each item.
• Completion of Secondary school is required.
• Must have a minimum of one or two year security, or military experience is required.
• Level IV (Fluency) reading, writing and speaking Arabic is required. Level III (Good
working knowledge) in reading, writing and speaking English is required. (English language
will be tested)
• The Incumbent must have good visual memory and observation skills and good
communication skills, both verbal and written.
• The Incumbent must be able to work independently.
• The Incumbent must have a valid driver’s license
•The skills in the use of surveillance equipment desired.
•level 1 keyboard/typing and basic computer skills desired.
SELECTION PROCESS
When fully qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and US Veterans are given
preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications
above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in
determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs
Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not
eligible to apply.
4. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are
ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their
employment.
5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible
to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment
unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
