Job Summary

DynCorp International is a global government services provider in support of U.S.
national security and foreign policy objectives, delivering support solutions for defense,
diplomacy, and international development. The Infantry Battalion Mentor will provide mentoring to the Battalion and Company Commanders, facilitating training for the Battalion on light infantry tactics, and assist the Battalion Commander to liaise with United Nations (UN) and U.S. government (USG) personnel.

Principal Accountabilities
• Coach the Battalion and Company Commanders of a Light Infantry Unit and their staff elements in developing operation plans, devising training unit organization, and maintaining command of subordinates effectively.
• Provide targeted support to the Battalion/Company Commander and staff for joint operations with the UN Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).
• Assist the Battalion/Company Commander and staff in conducting refresher training for the Battalion on light infantry tactics; training shall include unit tactics, communication training (including long range), medical training, weapons training, staff training, and leadership training (for the BN commander and company chains of command)
• Facilitate/provide oversight on water operations and survivability training; human rights training including law of armed conflict and sexual and gender based violence training and shall ensure all training emphasizes the importance of civil-military relations and civilian protection.
• Coordinates with members of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (Forces Armées de la République Démocratique du Congo) (FARDC) and utilize FARDC instructors when feasible.s
• Prepares reports to Africa Peacekeeping (AFRICAP) Program team highlighting program progress.
Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of light infantry training, mentoring, and discipline.
• Demonstrated skills as an military instructor
• Knowledge of developing Military Training Support Packages and Programs of Instruction
• Prior joint and combatant level assignments, preferred.
• Special Operations Forces (SOF) Background preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Must demonstrate creative problem solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team equally well.
• Ability to work with a translator
• Ability to work and live in an extremely austere environment while demonstrating creative problem solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an U.S. Passport
• Ability to read, write and understand written and spoken French is a plus
Experience & Education



• Four (4) to five (5) years direct experience in military operational planning and operations at the company level or higher required.
• Ten (10) to twenty (20) years military experience is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Former Combat Arms (Infantry/SOF) Senior Non Commissioned Officers (E7 above) or Officers (O-3 with Command Experience, O-4/O-5 with Battalion Command/Staff experience desired.
• Former combat arms highly preferred (Light Infantry, SOF Background)
• Experience as a training officer/ Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) desired.
• Prior supervisory experience required.
• Experience in professional development in regards to training and working with African cultures is desired.
• Recent operational experience in Africa or training international forces highly desired.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment



• Must possess a fitness level appropriate to performing work in a field environment and current medical exam completed within the past twelve (12) months.
• Dental and medical readiness must be up to date.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs.
• Possess the ability to work in a cramped office environment and in an austere environment.



Travel



Must be able to travel throughout the Democratic Republic of Congo
