Position Summary: (Close Protection Operations Instructor)
This position involves conducting Close Protection Operations assessment, testing, and instruction; completion of related documentation and reports; maintaining on-going student contact; maintaining public relations activities; maintaining student retention activities; and participation in staff and professional
development activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Provides Close Protection Operations instruction in assigned subject/topic areas to include Roles and responsibilities of the Close Protection Operative to include:
Threat and risk assessment
Surveillance awareness
Operational planning
Law and legislation
Interpersonal skills
Close protection team work
Reconnaissance
Close protection foot techniques
Route selection
Use of close protection vehicle techniques
Search awareness
Incidents and dilemmas
Venue based security
Communication and conflict management skills and other topics as assigned
Qualifications
Special Licenses and/or Certificates:
SIA Front Line License in Close Protection, Certificate in Close Protection Operations or application in progress. Any of the following qualifications is a must: City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Teaching Adult Learners (7307), City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Delivering Learning (7302), City & Guilds Level 4 Certificate in Further Education Teaching (7407), Edexcel Level 4 BTEC Award in Instructional Techniques, Edexcel Level 4 BTEC Certificate in FE Teaching Also, a range of any qualifications comprising NVQ units including:
Edexcel Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Training and Presenting
Edexcel Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Skills Training
Edexcel Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Workplace Learning
CIPD Level 3 Certificate in Training Practice
Level 3 Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (C&G 7303)
Level 3 in Direct Training Support
Levels 3, 4 & 5 in Learning and Development
Or Scottish equivalents
Experience:
Trainers delivering training for the SIA approved qualifications in Close Protection Operations must demonstrate that they have the necessary understanding of the relevant licensing sector with three years operational experience (checkable).
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge and experience in: Internet Explorer; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft Word; Microsoft PowerPoint; Windows Operating System.
Other Skills and Qualifications:
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
