Security Manager , Harbel Liberia

Company: Firestone Natural Rubber
Location: Harbel, Liberia

Company Background
After more than 85 years of investment, Firestone Liberia is the largest single natural rubber operation in the world. With the product supplied by the Firestone-Liberia partnership, Firestone Natural Rubber Company provides its high quality rubber and latex to Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, LLC: specialty compounders; and manufacturers of medical components, carpet backing, adhesives, and coatings, for example. In 2008, the business began producing environmentally friendly Heveawood, recovered from end-of-lifecycle rubber trees, for use in furniture, flooring, and other value-added applications. The company has invested more than $107 million in projects that are helping Liberia rebuild homes, schools, healthcare facilities, and infrastructure and, for the past three years, its Firestone Medical Center at Duside has hosted a team of surgeons and nurses from Children’s Surgeries International to perform free surgeries on some of West Africa’s most underprivileged youth.

Firestone Natural Rubber, LLC, is a subsidiary company of Bridgestone Americas (BSAM), a multi-national family of enterprises with 52 production facilities and more than 40,000 employees. Tires are the largest part of BSAM’s business, accounting for approximately 70 percent of annual revenues. Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO) develops, manufactures, and markets tires for almost every kind of vehicle.
