Job Summary.
Duties and Resposibilities• Manage all security staff including the Security Officers, the Radio Room staff, and Guards. Ensure that these staff are working as per their own ToRs, and provide correction and encouragement where needed,
• Provide technical advice to Field Security Officers as requested by them or their managers,
• Represent NRC at ANSO Central Security Meetings and other security briefings as appropriate,
• Develop reliable and varied networks to source, cross-check and verify information on the evolving security environment,
• Act as a source of sound cultural and situational advice to SA and other expats,
• Technical supervision of drivers for matters related to safety and security,
• Work closely with program staff such as Field Coordinators, Teamleaders, and OAs,
• Responsible for all aspects of the communication equipment (except IT) used by NRC, its correct set up,
maintenance, and training of staff,
• Responsible for monthly reporting of compound security checks, and identifying and fixing any problems in physical operational security arrangements,
• Train key staffs on security protocol, reporting and information feed procedures, and contribute to the production of accurate security advice to NRC staff.
• Prepare reports with recommendations as required - these can be from investigations or incidents,
• Act as a key advisor and participant in the NRC Crisis Management Team,
• Deputise for the SA as required, including weekly reporting to Oslo and advice to CD.
• Other tasks as allocated by SA.

Qualification• Regional and cultural knowledge of areas of NRC field operations in Afghanistan.
• Must have a demonstrated working knowledge and technical qualification in radio operation, radio communications procedures, and technical qualification as a radio instructor. Must be able to run an operations room.

Essential Skills:
• Strong communication skills and ability to lead staff, and ability to harmonise a team.
• Demonstrated sound analytical and problem solving skills.
• Fluent English and local languages,
• Ability to read and interpret maps,
• Good level of computer literacy,

Personal Qualities:
• Able to travel outside of duty station to NRC field offices as frequently as required.
• Willingness to work longer than standard hours when required.
