Job Title: Counter Terrorism Senior Research Analyst x2

One of the FCO’s most important objectives is to protect the UK against the threat of international terrorism. This is a specialist position that demands broad and extensive knowledge of international terrorism issues, with a focus on the threat posed to the UK by al Qaida and its like minded associates. The position also requires sound analytical
judgement, a high level of expertise, and an ability to deploy your expertise effectively both verbally and in writing.
This position provides an excellent opportunity to become one of Whitehall’s leading experts on international terrorism issues, and to inform and influence the UK’s overseas CT strategy. To achieve this, you will provide strategic analysis and advice on a broad range of terrorism issues, often to tight deadlines, and in response to demand or at your own initiative. You will be expected to develop your subject matter knowledge on a continuous basis in support of the British government’s priority CT objectives.
You will form part of a small, collaborative team, and will work closely with policy colleagues in the FCO’s National Security Directorate and analytical partners across Whitehall, playing a leading role in HMG’s assessment effort on terrorism issues. You will also liaise actively with international analytical partners and provide a gateway to outside experts in order to inform FCO thinking and policy-making with external expertise.
Salary
The salary range for this role is c. £35,000 per annum depending on skills, experience and qualifications. This sum will be consolidated and pensionable. The successful candidate will be eligible for annual pay awards, based on performance in the previous year. Future salary progression is performance related.
The job holder will also be entitled to an additional £3,000, London Location Allowance.
