levelTraining of Trainers accomplished on selected ARC modules for 20 field practitioners. Methodology The successful candidate should have extensive knowledge of Humanist, effect based and PBL training methodologies. Time Frame Save the Children expects that the training will last for 2-3 weeks starting in early August Support Available: 1 Save the Children will coordinate the training and all other activities inside SL and Somalia. 2 Provide logistical support (transport, accommodation, food, etc during the assignment) Terms And Conditions Logistics: Travel from Nairobi to the field and back after the end of the contract (including airport tax), food, and accommodation will be covered by Save the Children. Professional fee: The consultant will propose his/her own rate as part of the financial proposal. This will be reviewed by SC and amended and/or approved as appropriate. Tax and insurance: The consultant shall be responsible for their income tax,
work permits and/or insurance during the assignment. Code of conduct: Save the Children's work is based on deeply held values and principles, it is essential that our commitment to children's rights and humanitarian principles is supported and demonstrated by all members of staff. Proposal: The financial proposal should provide cost estimates for services rendered including daily consultancy fees excluding: accommodation and living costs; transport cost; stationeries, and supplies needed for training and costs related to participants at the trainings. EXPERTISE REQUIRED The following attributes are requirements for the selection of the Trainer: 1 Proven experience of organizing and facilitating scenario based field security training in Somalia for NGO national staff 2 Proven experience of operating within the Somalia environment (minimum of 5 years) 3 The ability to develop, write and train a comprehensive Threat Risk Assessment at the individual and organizational level. 4 Experience of managing critical incidents for NGOs incorporating business continuity 5 Demonstrable experience of working with INGOs and NGOs in Somalia and other hostile environments 6 A comprehensive understanding of the Humanitarian Principles and their
application in security 7 An understanding of the psychological effects of working in a hostile environment and how appropriate mitigation can be included into field training. Consultant -Security Trainer for NGO Personnel-TOR - Somalia
Save the Children (SC) wishes to employ an NGO security Trainer/facilitator to assist the SC Security Manager in the training of field staff. The training will last 2-3 weeks and take place at SC Field Offices in Somalia and Somaliland. The training will constitute a major part of the implementation of the new Safety and Security Management Plan (SSMP), a core document in Save the Children's overall security management plan.
