Director of Security

The Direct of Security will manage a team of up to five people, and possess all the Security "tickets" inclusding Top Secret/SCI with a Full scope polygraph clearance. He or She will:
Provides advanced level assets protection and safeguarding advice and guidance to senior management and all operating locations

  • Leads compliance to meet or exceed federal and contractual security regulations and directives set forth by the National Industrial Security Program, Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community and Federal Law Enforcement
  • Supervises the Security Department, manages the corporate security program and establishes security policy and procedure standards
  • Mentors direct reports and facilitates security awareness, training and education for all company staff
  • Establishes and maintains internal company business unit relationships and actively engages externally with Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community (IC)and Federal Law Enforcement representatives and peer industrial security leaders
  • Exercises oversight of contract security, classification management, personnel security, document control, physical security, classified Information Systems and Communications Security (COMSEC) accounts
  • Manages internal investigations involving staff, information and property
  • Conducts routine audits and self-inspections of cleared facilities
  • Manages clearance nominations and personnel security investigations processes
  • Provides security advice, assistance and training to senior management
  • Uses multiple security databases and sites to maintain statistics and metrics
  • Performs classification management and contract security liaison with subcontractors
  • Conducts security awareness briefings, training and education
  • Determines security resource requirements and is responsible for the annual budget

Additional job duties:
Functions as an Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) as necessary
Writes security language and contributes advice for proposals and solicitations
Travels to meet regularly with Security Directors
Visits company work sites to train and ensure contract security compliance
Identifies potential problems or areas for improvement and provides solutions
Performs other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree with 12 to 15 years of experience with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), Director of Central Intelligence Directives (ICDs) or Joint Air Force Army Navy Manuals (JFANs)
Masters Degree with nine to 12 years with the NISPOM, DCID/ICDs or JFANs
Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Industrial Security Professional (ISP) certification is preferred
Knowledge of DoD, IC and/or federal law enforcement security practices required
Expertise with Joint Personnel Access System (JPAS), Electronic Questionnaire for Investigative Processing (eQIP) and Army Contractor Access Verification System (ACAVS) is required
Strong knowledge of U.S. Government regulations and security community contacts
Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize work
Ability to adjust quickly and adapt to changing priorities
Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team
Ability to supervise, mentor, coach, guide and train security staff
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (eligible for SCI indoctrination)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Work Environment:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
Ability to lift and/or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs.
Overseas travel required up to 10% of the time, including hazardous duty areas in Europe, Middle East, Southwest Asia, Central and South America, and Africa.
