As an Overseas Detainee Custody Officer you will work as part of a team to undertake the safe and secure transportation of Detainees, including any dependent children, from Immigration Removal Centres and other places of detention to the port of exit and back to their country of origin, and their continued supervision to the location as specified by the UK Border Agency.
The key responsibility of this role is to ensure that the welfare and care of the detainees, including any dependent children, is maintained to a consistently high standard, ensuring their moral and legal rights are observed and the constant care of their property is undertaken.
The role can involve escorting detainees back to their country of origin on long-haul flights; so a high level of flexibility is required, as working hours will fluctuate depending upon the nature of the allocated tasks. Successful applicants will have to guarantee availability for work on a month by month basis and should be willing to consider varying levels of commitment.
Successful applicants will need to demonstrate the following:
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
A flexible approach to their work
The ability to remain calm under pressure
The ability to champion the principles of managing diversity
Applicants will also have to provide 10 years checkable history; a full and valid driving licence and demonstrate they have the right to work in the UK.
