International Police Advisor/Mentor - Afdghanistan

The Department of State is seeking professional experienced civilian police officers who are eager to accept a challenging and rigorous assignment to serve with the United States Civilian Police (CIVPOL) or Criminal Justice Program Support (CJPS) contracts throughout the world. Service with an international police mission allows officers to apply their professional skills in dynamic environments that are experiencing intense cultural and political change. Officers are likely to be involved in one or more of the activities depending on venue: training police on human rights, community policing, basic tactical police moves, basic investigative skills, writing report, crime analysis, Police Driving Instruction, Female Basic Police Instruction, Criminal investigations, Firearms instructions and Civil & Criminal Intelligence.

U.S. Police Officers who serve one year training police overseas gain as much as they give. Their experience teaching democratic police work is unique, and they bring a valuable new perspective to their jobs and their communities. Officers of all ranks return home with more acute problem-solving skills, a strong awareness of different cultures, and a profound appreciation for the role of law enforcement at all levels of a democratic society.
