Duties
• Gather relevant security information, analyse it and share with Country Director, Program Manager, Project Officers and other relevant staff.
• Enhance/Develop security guidelines as needed including SOPs, Medivacs, etc. in consultation with the Country Management Team
• Ensure drill exercise for all staff at least twice a year
• Ensure that all DRC security equipments are up to standard and functional (communications, safety equipment, etc.)
• Ensure that all staff including international are familiar with the security protocols including evacuation protocols
• Establish and maintain a network for data collection through, national and international partners as well as others sources
• Review daily movement planning and approves it
• Ensure that no routine is established for all aspect of work that requires movement outside DRC premises
• Attend any meeting security related and keep the Country Director and the HQ updated through regular report, memo and monthly report.
• Ensure that each new staff or visitor is aware on security rules
• Ensure that each field site has the security plan and the needed adaptation specific to each context
• Ensure the technical conditions to implement the security guidelines in the country
• Any other duty as directed by the country director
Qualifications
• Previous experience with humanitarian work, in complex protracted crisis
• Substantial experience of work in a country under security focus
• Familiarity with humanitarian principles and practices
• Experience of operating in a volatile security environment
• Good analytical skills
• Good communication skills
• Strong negotiation, advocacy and communication skills
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
• Preferably, but not necessarily, working experience from Iraq

Conditions
Availability: As soon as possible
Duty station: Basra, with frequent travel throughout the country, Amman (the initial posting will be in Amman as facilities are yet to be set in Basra)
Contract: One year with possibility of extension, subject to funding.
Salary and other conditions in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Locally Recruited Expatriates (available on request). The position will be placed at salary level C2.
