We are rapidly growing, working in new areas with a broad range of clients, including UN agencies, philanthropic foundations, and government departments from countries all over the world.

The UK Government is committed to spending 50% of DFID’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) budget in Fragile and Conflict-Affected States and this trend is reflected across many of our clients. In turn this means the level of travel, safety and risk management is increasing for our teams and this has created an exciting opportunity within the Travel team.

This is an incredibly diverse role, one day you could be assessing the security requirements for safely deploying staff to conflict zones in Somalia, the next could be conducting remote interviews with our overseas partners reviewing operating procedures and risk mitigation measures. You will work across the whole business to ensure the appropriate level of security risk analysis is in place from Business Development to in-country deployments. Constantly building on this learning will enable you to contribute to the longer term strategic view and planning of the team in how we deliver global safety and security to our internal and external teams
There are four key aspects to this role:

Travel and Security Risk Management: Complete security risk assessments, risk mitigation planning, pre-travel induction and briefings, partner due diligence assessments and security risk management capacity building. Work in collaboration with in-country security teams, partners and security advisors to inform decision making. Conduct or commission itinerary specific security risk assessments prior to travel to high and extreme risk areas. Provide security & safety briefing and advice to our internal and external teams

Risk Analysis: Undertake research and producing analytical reports with security guidance and recommendations and ensure that this is shared and understood across the whole Itad team. Developing Geopolitical scenario analysis & power mapping of networks to identify risks and long term trends.

Global Safety & Security procedures: Support implementing and promoting our security framework across the organisation. Develop strategies that enable project managers to actively participate in security management, ensuring information sharing and collaborative approaches. Embedding a positive culture of safety & security management within the company in accordance with sector best-practice, client stipulations, and moral guidance

Travel Facilitation: Implement our travel management procedures, embedding systems within company and projects, contributing to systems development & evolution. Manage and develop systems for monitoring and disseminating live risk information to deployed staff, including security updates and accompanying advice. Supporting visa and passport applications where necessary.

Each member of the team supports the Duty Officer rota which provides a focal point for all deployments and traveller check-ins and involves being on call for a week at a time.
