Medic/Paramedic Area Supervisor

Job Description

Responsible for administering on-site inoculations for required vaccinations, and drug and
alcohol testing. Works closely with on-site HSE management to assess work injuries and accidents, provides documentation to assist company with workers compensation claims. Determines fitness for duty of contractors and subcontractors with senior HSE management. Maintains medical records for on-site contractors and subcontractors. Required to operate an emergency response vehicle and perform maintenance and inventory management on emergency equipment and supplies. Other duties as assigned.

Provides specialized HSE services to support field level implementation of health, safety and environmental policies, procedures and guidelines as instructed. Activities include but are not limited to risk identification, incident reporting and investigation, waste minimization, pollution prevention and control, various compliance activities and implementation of various aspects of management systems in all areas of HSE. Conducts inspections and assessments. Performs record-keeping and other general administrative duties. Provides HSE interface to project management, other functional areas, client personnel and corporate HSE staff. Provides HSE expertise and support in areas of technical advice, data interpretation, personnel development, and process improvement.

Supervises the emergency medical services function within assigned area of responsibility. Overseas, occupational health & safety, and clinical medicine. Supervises staff in activities concerned with providing routine medical services, first aid, and emergency services. Activities include serving as the initial on-site medic for routine medical issues for contractors and subcontractors; performing vital checks, diagnosing patients with minor symptoms and prescribing medication as necessary. Required to operate an emergency response vehicle and perform maintenance and inventory management on emergency equipment and supplies.

Position may be located in a war zone in a contingency environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions, including lifting and carrying 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. To ensure safety, health, and security measures within the contract are met, all employees shall be literate in English (read, write, speak and understand).

Living conditions on the project are most likely austere. The most austere sleeping may be in environmentally conditioned tents on “Army type” cots. Restrooms and showers may be 250 feet or further from sleeping quarters. Laundry service for 15 pounds twice per week is commonly provided. Meals are provided at regular intervals in cafeteria or “dining facility” style environment. Living area will most likely have constant hum of generators or similar equipment nearby.

Basic Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and six (6) years to nine (9) years related experience. Requires computer skills and proficiency using email, Microsoft Office or specialized applications as necessary to perform assigned job functions. Certification as Emergency Medical Technician or equivalent required.


Preferred Qualifications

Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience preferred.
