Job Description:
The Security Company Command/Force Protection Trainer/Mentor will TAAM GSU, SMW and all subordinate organizations at various locations in Afghanistan on all matters concerning Force Protection/Perimeter Security of FOBs, training, operations and plans, force development, and modernization and all operations as directed by the GSU Commander. The mentor will primarily TAAM the GSU in the duties including, but not limited to, the following: Daily tactical security, physical security of critical equipment, facilities, circulation control and the enforcement of military laws and regulations; prepare plans, policies and regulations pertaining to organization, training, operations, and equipment of nation security units and personnel for both tactical and law enforcement operations; and directs training, administration, supply, maintenance, transportation, and security activities of a military company size unit.

Required Hours:
Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be to conduct training six (6) days per week for up to ten (10) hours per day while at OCONUS work site(s) and a standard 40 hour work week while at CONUS work sites.

Responsibilities:

Develop/refine Force Protection plans; conduct requirements analysis
Identify Force Protection/perimeter equipment requirement needs
Train, Advise, Assist, Mentor Afghan counterparts until proficient on Force Protection
Responsible for regularly interacting with US military personnel
Based on circumstances that are unique to their work locations, trainers will be responsible for making on the scene decisions as to how to execute the curriculum
Required Qualifications:

Senior NCO or higher with a minimum of 6 years U.S. Army Battalion/Brigade Combat Team or service equivalent level Force Protection experience
Combat experience and 12 months experience in Afghanistan is preferred
Competent with operating Personal Computer skills & MS Office
Excellent Interpersonal and People Skills
Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills
Excellent Leadership, Organizational and Project Mgmt Skills
Ability to plan and organize work, analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions
Must possess a US Passport with at least 6 months of remaining eligibility
Must be able to obtain a Visa for Afghanistan
Willing to assist the team and teammates to accomplish mission requirements in other areas outside the scope of work, for short duration
Physical & Mental Requirements:

This is an ARMED position. Must obtain and maintain eligibility to possess & operate a firearm in Afghanistan (AFG). Must successfully complete/maintain arming requirements including but not limited to: Psychological evaluation; Completion of Civilian Arming Authorization Mgmt System (CAAMS) requirements/documentation & Arming Authorization Letter from US Forces AFG; Afghan weapons permit from the Afghan Ministry of the Interior
Wear required personal protective gear: body armor, helmet, etc. Independently lift/carry duffle bags with a max weight of 70 lbs/piece & move across uneven terrain
Work & live in AFG with potential assignment to any location in AFG based upon needs of the U.S. Gov’t
Meet medical requirements for position as determined by a pre-employment medical screening & published CRC and USCENTCOM medical deployment standards
Walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces up to 8 hours/day & sit for up to 3 hours/day; climb/descend stairs; grasp or handle objects; use finger dexterity; bend elbows/knees; reach above/below shoulders; read/interpret typewritten print; communicate by voice & detect sound by ear
Work, live & respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances in a potentially hostile environment - at remote locations, under austere conditions - with extreme aircraft noise, hostile fire, other acts of aggression and/or extreme weather conditions

Security Clearance Requirement:
Must have an active/current DoD SECRET security clearance used within the past two years. Clearance is required to access and handle classified and personal personnel material, attend project meetings, and/or work within restricted areas unescorted.

Desired Qualifications:

Prefer experience with Force Protection support to Infantry or Special Operations background
Prefer previous experience training and advising foreign military soldiers
Required Education:

Bachelor's degree from accredited school & six (6) years of related experience, OR four (4) years related experience with Master's degree. Eight (8) years of additional equivalent work experience (14 total years) may be accepted in lieu of BA/BS education requirement.
