Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

The British Embassy in Minsk is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. The Embassy is seeking to recruit a Security Guard to join the Security and Transport team based in Minsk.

The jobholder will be part of a small team which is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment at the Embassy and should be able to respond in a professional manner to any security incident or situation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

General Security Duties, including (90%):
Control visitor access to the Embassy;
Search visitors and their bags by using Metal Detector Arch and Handy Metal Detector and remove prohibited items;
Check all incoming mail and recording the details before passing it to Reception;
Issue and check daily all Embassy visitor's passes;
Carry out patrols and physical checks of the Embassy;
Report any problems and/or suspicious activity to the Post Security Officer;
Check regularly all incoming emails;
Check smoke alarms, fire points and fire extinguishers;
Check incident and bomb alarms;
Maintain all appropriate occurrence books;

Any other duty as directed by the Post Security Officer and Security Manager (10%):
To perform ad hoc tasks around the Embassy as required (e.g. covering for the Receptionist, acting as back up driver).


Essential qualifications and experience

2-3 years minimun Security experience;
Good spoken and written communication skills in English, Belarusian and Russian;
Flexibility and ability to maintain professionalism under pressure;
Good organisation skills and the ability to work without close supervision;
Excellent driving skills and relevant driving experience.


Desirable qualifications and experience

First Aid and or/knowledge of First Aid procedures and delivery experience;
Working in an international environment.
