Job Description


The location for this position is OCONUS at one of the below sites:
Baghdad Iraq, Basira Iraq, or Irbil Iraq
Conducts initial training testing/validation of canines in order to validate proper olfactory capabilities, behavioral suitability, and physical traits for entrance into the program
Perform daily maintenance training (i.e., performance and explosives detection) and maintain training records for assigned detection dogs
Collects and maintains accurate records relating to the imprinting and training of contract canines
Maintain the day-to-day health and welfare of assigned detection dogs
Maintain all assigned canine-related equipment
Perform basic canine emergency first-aid as needed.

Qualifications

US citizen
Valid US issued passport and current driver's license
Must possess a national/state/provincial military or law enforcement certification as an explosives detection working dog trainer
Must possess a minimum of four (4) years' experience as a military or law enforcement canine handler, or a minimum of three (3) years performing as a military or law enforcement canine trainer. This experience must have been earned within the last five (5) years
Experience may be gained in the employ of any national, state, provincial, local, or commercial entities providing armed high threat protective services that require skills similar to those identified in the guard training course
Attend and successfully complete the required training course
Attend and successfully complete firearms training with the Glock-19 and M4, qualifying on those firearms specified in the task order
Attend and successfully complete training, to be a minimum of three (3) hours in length, addressing the following topics:

Recognition of improvised explosive devices (IED) and explosive materials, both in general and relating specifically to the task order area of operations
Safe explosives handling, explosives storage protocols, and explosives transportation protocols, to include protocols for avoiding cross-contamination of explosive training materials
Testing procedures for phase one (1) and phase two (2) of the WPS Odor Recognition Test, as outlined in this contract
Phase one (1) of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF) National Odor Recognition Test (NORT)
Phase two (2) of the North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA) certification test
Obtain and maintain a personnel security clearance as specified in the task order
Complete the DS Physical Readiness Test at the 50% performance level, and maintain that fitness level for the duration of his/her service on the task order
Possess no impediments to traveling overseas to and within countries that are considered dangerous or unhealthy in general, or to the country or countries assigned in the applicable task order in specific.
