Roving Security Advisor

To strengthen the organisation’s security efforts, we are now looking for three roving security advisors. The positions will be responsible for, respectively; Eastern Africa, the Middle East and our Francophone countries. Security is highly prioritised in NCA and our work is characterised by high work pressure, a high degree of individual responsibility for own work and a good team spirit.

NCA has recently revised its security framework and developed new standards and tools. These are now being implemented in NCA’s regional and country offices. The roving security advisers will be stationed at one of the NCA offices in the regions concerned, and extensive traveling to neighbouring countries must be expected.

Job description
Implement NCA’s Security Risk Management standard, including conducting threat and risk analyses for NCA’s operational areas, designing risk mitigation measures and updating national security and contingency plans.
Advise Area and Country Representatives on strategic conflict and risk analysis.
Coordinate and liaise with other entities and organisations in the sector.
Train security personnel, local staff and partners on security and analytical competence.
Contribute to and participate in the organisation’s strategy work related to safety, security and programmes.
Conduct security risk assessments and safety audits at each country office and partner organisation.
Strengthen NCA offices’ crisis management capacity.
Contribute to results-oriented planning, monitoring, documentation and reporting for the security field.
Monitor and report on security and safety developments, especially in high-risk countries.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in political science, international relations, regional studies, conflict and development studies, criminology or law enforcement.
Documented field experience.
At least five years’ experience from security related work.
Experience from the development and/or humanitarian aid sector.
Strong analytical skills.
Documented background from training and coaching on security.
Excellent English skills written and oral.
Excellent French skills for the position covering francophone countries.
Further language skills such as Arabic and Portuguese is desirable.

Strong team- and capacity building skills.
Flexible and able to work and stay calm under pressure.
