The Afghan Education Program (AEP) National Military Academy of Afghanistan (NMAA) Trainer is assigned to the Army Institutional Advisory Team (AIAT) at the New Kabul Compound (NKC) in Kabul, Afghanistan. AIAT is comprised of approximately 30 advisors and doctrine writers within the CJ 7 component of the NATO Operation, Resolute Support (RS).
AIAT is currently directed by a British Colonel. The staff and members of AIAT include military officers of several NATO countries, one US Lieutenant Colonel and a few additional US Contractor employees. The Logistics Advisor/Trainer works as part of the NATO team and functions as an AIAT staff member as well as a Logistics specialist.
The NMAA Trainer serves as an integral member of the AIAT team assisting the ANA institutions in solving institutional challenges. This team member focuses on improving the NMAA’s academic and military training.
Works in AIAT and understands the ANA Professional Military Education (PME) system and specifically the National Military Academy of Afghanistan and its mission to train ANA officer cadets.
Train and assist the NMAA cadre and Turkish Advisors in the management of the day to day operations and their concerns and issues. Serve as a liaison to all Advisors associated with the development and mentoring of the NMAA and its staff.
Serve as a Trainer and liaison to all AIAT advisors and ensure NMAA Advisor continuity, institutional knowledge and sharing with incoming military personnel during six-month rotations and change overs. Provide general expertise and help in supporting the issues and concerns of the NMAA and AIAT leadership.
Maintain close coordination with ANAOA cadre to ensure parallel planning for MFNDU training area use and also the awareness and maintenance of similar standards within the institutions.
Train Turkish Advisors on coalition programs and awareness of ANAOA systems to ensure parallel planning for MFNDU training area use and also the awareness and maintenance of similar standards within the institutions.
Retains NMAA institutional knowledge and provides continuity for all AIAT personnel while maintaining awareness of AIAT priorities IAW the Director’s campaign plan and sharing information accordingly.
Foster and develop, when possible, the historical partnership between the NMAA and the United States Army Military Academy at West Point which it was modeled after. Pursue and facilitate opportunities that involve and integrate West Point activities and historical identification with the institutions or their cadets.
Required Qualifications:Ten years active duty experience as a commissioned officer.
Experience as a member of a brigade staff.
One year experience in Afghanistan or Iraq.
Strong background in training and training management.
Applicants must be able to pass CENTCOM medical, dental and other CRC-related deployment requirements at Fort Bliss, Texas
Applicants must be in possession of a current/active US tourist Passport (with further eligibility to receive – if not already in possession of – a current Afghanistan visa). If candidate is already deployed, he/she must supply appropriate documentation satisfying these requirements along with confirmation that he/she is in physical possession of government-issued PPE to demonstrate compliance with CENTCOM deployment requirements.
Willingness to work and live in Afghanistan and understanding of the possibility to be further assigned to any location in Afghanistan based upon the needs of the U.S. Government
Willingness and ability to travel outside of protected areas via military convoys or MILAIR and wear protective clothing and equipment as required
Willingness to work in hostile areas without a weapon
Willingness to deploy and live on forward operating bases without regular U.S. Post/Base Exchange and Commissary facilities

Desired Qualifications:

Graduate of Command and General Staff Course.
