Ambatovy is a multibillion dollar asset employing and contracting over 7000 people of multiple nationalities. The Security Manager leads a large team of employees and contractors, proposing and overseeing preventive and mitigation efforts, often in conjunction with other Ambatovy Departments, that provide a fully integrated, cross functional, approach to security management. In addition, the Manager works with government security forces at ministerial and national level and various national and international organisations to provide a level of safeguard to Ambatovy's people, assets, operations and reputation that is consistent with national and international law and international standards and best practices.
The Role
Responsibilities will include:
Organises and leads a department based in Toamasina, Moramanga and Antananarivo comprising 100 employees and 500+ Contractors
Development of Security Policy and the implementation thereof, through a risk based, Security Management System including Security Plans, Procedures and Programs for all facilities and operations
Ensure that National Security employees are properly trained in the tools required for their roles such as investigative techniques, drills etc. Ensure succession planning is carried out and is effective in the department
Ensure proper KPIs are in place to measure the department's effectiveness and capability to perform in high stress or crisis situations
Development and implementation of Crisis Management Plans including but not limited to Industrial Accident, Civil Unrest, Evacuation and Kidnap. Organizes drills/training for senior management
Organise and direct internal investigations into significant breaches of Ambatovy policies and liaise with Government Security Forces and the Judiciary when National Law is broken.
Develop and maintain technical security systems including access control, CCTV, intruder detection, vehicle and asset tracking systems
Develop and maintain effective local, national and international networks with relevant security stakeholders
Lead interface for all strategic Government Security Forces initiatives and relations with Ambatovy
Development and implementation of Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights program
Ambatovy lead representative to the Regional Industrial Risks Management Committee working with National and International stakeholders to build the Committee's institutional capability and capacity
A dynamic, geographical mobility is required in order to ensure that the responsibilities of the position are successfully achieved.
The Requirements
Fully Bilingual English/French
10 years' experience in a similar position
Bachelor or higher degree
Security qualification at University Level
Senior Manager/Director with a strong Risk Management and Security background and an excellent understanding of the business needs of the Extractive Industries
Possess a strong understanding of Contractual relationships and can communicate clearly and effectively not only with people at all levels of the organisation but with external stakeholder groups and organisations
Operating in multifaceted and austere environments at Field and Corporate level, can demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the strategic issues and prioritize activities and projects to enhance cost effectiveness and reduce business risks
