Job Summary


The Interpreter translates spoken and written statements from one language to another for security and biometric services in support of US military operations.

Principal Accountabilities

Translate verbal and written communications in a security badging/screening office to support US military operations
Serve as receptionist for personnel entering the office, courteously greet a variety of nationalities in a professional manner, and determine the purpose of their visits
Interview, screen, and process Local National (LN) workers, guests, and Foreign National (FN) applicants seeking access into US military installations
Provide linguistic support during receptions, interviews, meetings, and conferences as necessary
Research and analyze foreign documents for authenticity, key information, and to provide input to reports
May be assigned to different locations throughout area of responsibility as needed
Perform other duties, including general administrative support, as assigned 



Knowledge & Skills

Fluent in both Pashtu and Dari
Strong verbal and written English skills including grammar, vocabulary, idioms, and spelling (since all reports/work products are prepared in English)
Proficient in Microsoft Office software and operating general office equipment such as copy and fax machines
Thorough knowledge of cultural, economic, geopolitical, and military issues of Middle East countries within the region
Courteous and professional communication and interpersonal skills for providing good customer service to a variety of nationalities and cultures
Prefer Panjabi and Urdu language skills
Experience & Education

Minimum two (2) years of experience translating Pashtu and Dari languages in a military or government environment
High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements/Working Environment

Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Travel

Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Security Clearance:  Secret

Must have ability to obtain and maintain US security clearance at proper level
