This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Office of the Director (OD), Office of the Chief Operating Officer (OCOO), Office of Safety, Security and Assets Management (OSSAM) in Atlanta, GA.

Additional selections may be made within the same geographical location CDC-wide.

This position is a term appointment in support of the Zika initiative.

Term Appointments - A Term appointment is a non-status appointment to a position in the competitive service, made for a specified period of time exceeding one year and lasting not more than four years.

If you are selected for a term position, your appointment may be extended to the maximum period allowed by law without further competition.

KEY REQUIREMENTS: Background investigation required.


DUTIES:
As Security Specialist (Global) you will:
Implement personnel, physical and/or information security policy for a regional office and field locations.
Serve as technical authority and expert adviser for waivers and exceptions to the State Department and agency physical and technical security standard.
Receive and review new laws, regulations and directives impacting the work of the security program.
Conduct analysis of geopolitical intelligence information.
Analyze and report trends in international travel and incidents affecting CDC travelers to ensure the security training provided is relevant.
Develop and distribute security awareness materials to agency travelers and overseas missions.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.
Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience planning, coordinating, reviewing, analyzing and/or implementing a variety of security programs, policies and strategies.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

GS-11: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience planning, coordinating, reviewing, analyzing and/or implementing a variety of security programs, policies and strategies.

OR

Have a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, of LL.M., if related from an accredited college or university.

OR

Have a combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described above to meet 100% of the qualification requirements.
