Security Officer , Iraq

Location: Dohuk, Kurdish republic of Iraq, with possible missions in Syria depending on the security situation
Closing date: 30 Sep 2016

Contract Length: 12 months
Reports to: Country Director (CD)


As a member of the Country Team (CT), the Security Officer will contribute to the development of the country programme by:
-Actively participating in the CT meetings and pro-actively take part in the decision making processes
-Participating in program planning through area risk assessment and analysis
-Ensure that team members follow the security procedures

Security
-Managing security team in Iraq and Eastern Syria
-Supervising Security Team to ensure the full implementation of the Security Framework
-Conduct and manage reviews of the Security Framework, Standard Operational Procedures and contingency plans as required by the Country Director
-Following security incidents
-Oversee the National Security Coordinators to ensure that regular situation and incident reporting is done comprehensively
-Mainstreaming security awareness through program activities and activities of support departments
-Providing capacity building for PIN staff
-Continuously reassess security situation in current areas of operations
-Providing risk assessment and analysis of new areas prior new interventions will be carry out
-Ensuring that proper contextual and stakeholders analysis is provided to team and management of the mission
-Be member of mission Crisis Management Team
-Coordinating with security managers of other partners
-Regular reporting of security situation to PIN HQ security department


Requirements for Applicants:
Education and Experience:

Third level education degree in relevant subject
Experience security management in volatile contexts
Experience working in complex and challenging environments desirable

Skills and Personality Requirements:
Rigorous and with high attention to detail
Strong analytical and prescience skill
Excellent interpersonal skills
Well develop participatory planning skills, must be able to provide capacity building to staff in the team
Ability to work under pressure and remain calm despite setbacks, managing and meeting deadlines
Cross-cultural sensitivity and awareness and willingness to travel to remote places in the field, maintaining good relationships with all members of staff
Full and clean driving licence
Empathy with the values of People in Need
Fluent in English
