Overview:
The Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) Mission is to provide Naval Warfare Centers, the Fleet, and other customers with accurate undersea, surface, and in-air three-dimensional tracking data and other unique Atlantic test facilities. In support of Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E), and Fleet readiness assessment and training. AUTEC is a Major Range and Test Facility Base (MRTFB) and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport's largest single team project, providing both deep and shallow water test and training environments.

Responsible for launch and recovery of NAVSEA/NAVAIR vehicles from vessels and helicopters. Performs mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs to various launcher systems (Telescopic Target Launcher/MK-32,Mod-17 Surface Launcher/Helicopter MK-146 Helicopter Launcher, MK-59 Torpedo Tube and the Smokey SAM Launchers).

Responsibilities:
Perform launch operations to include fire control systems aboard marine vessels and
helicopters of various NAVSEA/NAVAIR undersea vehicles.
Perform maintenance on hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical equipment to support the launcher and recovery systems both on shore and at sea.
Perform incoming inspections on RFI undersea vehicles; handling, preparation, post run and transport of vehicles and associated equipment in accordance with NAVAIR/NAVSEA/NAVFAC guidelines.
Operate tractor-trailer, forklift, and overhead cranes per NAVFAC guidelines.
Conduct rigging operations of heavy equipment per NAVFAC standards.
Handle, package, transport hazardous ordnance material up to 1.1 per NAVORD standards
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent.
US Navy Basic and Advanced Underwater Torpedo School preferred.
Valid driver’s license and passport will be required.
One (1) or more year(s) related experience launching undersea vehicles preferred.
One (1) year in forklift, tractor-trailer, and overhead crane operations preferred.
One (1) year electronics technology experience.
NAVFAC crane operator certification preferred.
CDL with HAZMAT endorsement preferred.
Prior certifications from the USN Ordnance Qualification/Certification Program preferred.
Excellent communication skills to interface with all levels of personnel in a multi-cultural team-oriented environment.
Attention to detail.
Good personal computer and Microsoft Office products skill with emphasis on Word.
Analytical skills to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to pass (HEP) yearly for driving ordnance vehicles.
Must be able to work and wear 30 lbs of equipment regularly.
Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities go to sea on marine vessels for up to 36 hours at a time.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to meet EGREE weight restrictions for helicopter operations.
This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance; US Citizenship is required
