Regional Risk Management Advisor

If you have a good overview of the risks in the Middle East region, and you are an expert in organizational safety, risk mitigation measures, access assessments, and compliance then you would be interested in our announced position with one of the world's most effective and respected Humanitarian Organizations for a Regional Risk Management Advisor, based in Amman with 40% travel in the middle east region.



Region Background:

NRC in the Middle East is responding to the Syria and Iraq crisis, assisting refugees in Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq as well as the displaced. NRC also works in Palestine and with Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. NRC works in shelter, emergency distributions, education, water and sanitation and legal assistance. Our response on the ground has grown rapidly with the dramatic rise in displacement and we now have over 3,000 staff members working on the NRC regional response.



Purpose of Position:

The purpose of this position is to support the Regional Senior Management Group to strengthen organisational risk management by aiding in the early identification, assessment and efficient management of identified key organisational risks. This includes undertaking and leading on specified projects in country offices that work towards mitigating those key organisational risks.

Knowledge of the Middle East region and Arabic language are highly desirable.



Job tasks and responsibilities:


Ensure a strategic approach to organisational risk management in the region


Support the Regional Senior Management Group in the implementation of regional strategies and initiatives


Foster a risk management culture throughout NRC operations in the Middle East


Support the effective implementation of, and compliance with organisational policies


Document results and feed into NRC global approach to risk management


Coordinate the NRC risk management systems within the region, ensuring working effectively to identify, evaluate, minimise and mitigate risk


Develop, monitor and supporting risk reduction plans to be implemented by the owners of risks (normally Country Directors)


Contribute to the development of adequate control mechanisms of NRC operations in the region


Undertake specific risk management related projects and tasks as required





We offer a 12 months contract.

Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s salary scale and terms and condition.

Duty station: Amman (Family Duty Station)

Approved health certificate will be requested before contract start
