The U.S. Embassy in Prague, Czech Republic is seeking an individual for the full-time position of Guard in the Regional Security Office.

Basic Function Of Position:  
Incumbent performs guard duties on a permanent or rotating shift during the hours and on the days determined by the Guard Supervisor at either a stationary post or a walking patrol post at one of three US government facilities. Guard duties include perimeter security, access controls, physical and visual inspection of vehicles, personal items and packages, interaction with public, coordination with US, local security personnel and local police security services.

Qualifications Required:  
NOTE: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.

A. Education: Completion of high school education (maturita) or equivalent is required.

B. Prior Work Experience: At least six months experience in security/protective services is required.

C. Post Entry Training: Training on use of the trace explosive detection machine, x-ray machine and walk-through metal detectors is required.

D. Language Proficiency (list both English and host country languages proficiency requirements by level (II, III, IV) and specialization (speak/read): Level 4/4 (Fluent) Czech, level 2/2 (Limited Knowledge) in English required. Language proficiency will be tested.

E. Job Knowledge: Must be thoroughly familiar with verbal and written instructions given by Regional Security Officer/Assistant Regional Security Officer, including local guard orders and emergency plans.

F. Skills and Abilities: Must be able to follow orders, to be alert, and to be reliable. When in contact with the public, must be cordial and polite. Must exercise sound judgment in referring problem situations to the local guard supervisor, and able to solve most problems in the absence of a guard supervisor. Full performance guards must be able to work all post and all shifts.

Must be in good physical condition and be able to perform basic security functions. Must be capable of ensuring personal safety and the well-being of visitors. Strenuous activity is necessary. Must be able to do regular foot patrols and job-training including self-defense measures. Security, military, police or similar background demonstrating appropriate training and fitness is required. Incumbent must pass annual medical examinations.
