Job Details:
Full-time fixed term position until Aug 17 with possibility of extension
Canberra based position within Defence Training Centre
applicants must have minimum NV2 Defence security clearance

Working as part of a combined Defence and civilian team, the Defence Exercise Planner (Intelligence) will be central to the design and delivery of major complex collective training events. Successful candidate will use their depth of Intelligence experience to provide a planning link to all Defence intelligence disciplines and effects and capabilities. DRN / DSN required for the role. Relocation assistance may be considered for suitable candidate.



About the Opportunity

Cubic is seeking a Defence Intelligence specialist with appropriate Defence experience and demonstrated knowledge of exercise planning and training for FORGEN, OPGEN and other specified training activities. This position will work primarily to a Defence manager within a combined Defence and contractor team.



The planner will conduct the activities associated with the Intelligence, Targeting and Effects (IT&E) functions including:
Manage the Intelligence, targeting and effects requirements within Exercise Planning and Delivery Team.
Prepared to lead Intelligence Working Groups at exercise planning conferences.
Develop Intelligence Master Scenario Events Lists (MESL) and produce exercise injects (implementers) as required to support all MESLs.
Support Defence Intelligence Staff with development of product in support of approved exercises.
Support development of OPFOR Intelligence capabilities and Scheme of Manoeuvre.
During exercises be prepared to lead the Intelligence Coordination Cell.
Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) briefings and participate in doctrine reviews.
Prepared to coordinate specialist IT&E support to Exercises.


The Person
The Defence Exercise Planner (Intelligence) will demonstrate:
Previous Defence Intelligence experience at the 04/05 level
Detailed understanding of Intelligence, Targeting and Effects functions within Defence.
Understanding of ADF Joint Warfare Doctrine and the conduct of training and training exercises in Defence.
Previous experience in a complex collective training environment.
Strong personal and professional skills and ability to liaise with other areas of Defence including senior Defence and civilian personnel.

Personal Qualities and Experience
Defence Exercise Planner (Intelligence) will have a significant role in the planning and delivery of high level and complex exercise events and will work under very broad direction. Often, the activities undertaken by the Defence Exercise Planner (Intelligence) will be self-initiated and with minimal supervision.

Defence Exercise Planner (Intelligence) will:
provide leadership to Defence and civilian teams
must demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills; specifically, have the ability to communicate complex IT&E issues to a broad training audience
build appropriate and effective business relationships
make decisions which impact the success of assigned projects and allocate and manage the resources appropriate for teams to be successful
assess and evaluate risk
communicate effectively, both formally and informally, and
take initiative to identify requirements and achieve customer outcomes

This position is only available to Australian citizens. Permanent residents and working visa holders will not be considered, as the incumbent must hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Australian citizenship is a prerequisite for this clearance, and this position. Candidates must have as a minimum current NV2 security clearance on application.
