Main purpose of job

To provide a full range of support to the Post Security Manager (PSM) and the (ROSM) Regional Overseas. Security Manager, dealing with core objectives involving leading and managing effective and efficiently the Security Team Guard Force. A good managerial skills and leadership is necessary. Working with other teams, including Estates, assisting them with security projects and improvements.

Duties and responsibilities
Supervise seven locally-engaged guards and, in conjunction with the Security Management Team, ensure they receive adequate training. You will manage their performance, setting objectives and writing their appraisals.
Examine and train all guards on mail for Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), chemical or other threats
Check all guard posts (guards, guard-huts, CCTV systems, watchman clocks and keys, lighting, physical defences, neighbourhood occurrences)
Supervise and, where necessary, arrange maintenance of security fences, gates and other barriers, liaising with estates team to implement upgrades
Conduct periodic patrols and security checks outside of embassy closing time at 20:00 Hrs
Filing, check occurrence log books and instigate any action required, CCTV report checks and action and fault reports

Oversee control of access arrangements
Conduct periodic patrols and security checks outside normal working hours
Prepare guards’ working and leave rosters in advance
Prepare guards’ monthly shifts working with the PSM to ensure roster is correct and operational
Prepare monthly Transport Vouchers
Prepare reports on matters of security interest, including incident returns
Oversee storage and distribution of security-related stores
Prepare and mange appraisals for seven guards
Provide general advice to staff on physical and procedural security
Maintain and, where necessary, update Post Security Regulations in consultation with the Post Security Manager and Regional Overseas Security Manager.
Liaise with the Military Police (Rio Branco) and build close relationship to facilitate incident response
Assist with visits by Overseas Security Advisers and the ROSM
Maintain a record of locks and keys under PSM control
Report and record any breaches of security in the unclassified area
Conduct practices of emergency response drills and fire alarm tests
Be able to prepare ship and receive diplomatic bags
Conduct Embassy closing procedures, including report and record any security breaches
Check and test fire fighting equipment and protective measures and record all details in a log book
In conjunction with the Technical Management Officer, oversee operation and testing of the local emergency VHF radio network.


Essential qualifications and experience

Experience in security field either working as a guard or at a supervisory level.


Desirable qualifications and experience

IT skills, English speaking,reading and writing fluency. Security background helpful.
