Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)

The British Embassy in Riyadh has a vacancy for the position of a Security Guard, Grade S2 (L).

Purpose of the job
Responsible to the Overseas Security Manager (OSM) through the Post Security Manager (PSM) for the physical and protective security of both the Embassy and Residence as appropriate to shift pattern and location, in accordance with Security Guard Instructions.

Main Duties and responsibilities:
Control vehicle and pedestrian access to the Embassy and record the details of all non-Embassy vehicles and pedestrians.
Search of bags and the person of all pedestrians, and issue relevant passes.
Maintain the guard house occurrence book.
Monitor the compound CCTV system.
Carry out patrols and physical checks of the compound grounds.
Carry out daily and frequent radio checks between both Embassy and Residence gate house and all official vehicles.
Control of all Consular and Visa visitors.
Receive and record Passports from Visa Section UK Based members of staff for collection by individuals out of normal working hours.
Receive and record sealed mail bags, both inbound and outbound for the VAC.
Complete a visual and detailed check of all mail (less that received by official bag) using the X-ray machine and record relevant details before passing the mail to reception staff for distribution.
During silent hours advise any visitors or telephone callers of the regular working hours and details of the official website for detailed services.

Good standard of oral and written English.
Competent information technology user.
Ability to work well in a team and understand diversity.
Ability to manage resource including own time and tasking.
Desirable qualifications and experience


Desirable:
Previous security experience.
Sound interpersonal skills and effective oral and written
