About the Role
The Regional Security Advisor provides support at regional level for security leads and Country Directors across the 'MECIS/NA' region (Middle East, Commonwealth Independent States, North Africa).

The role is responsible for ensuring that country security strategies are developed, implemented, monitored and reviewed in line with Oxfam policies, standards and requirements. The role will also play a critical role in ensuring that country teams are sufficiently resourced and skilled for security management appropriate to their country context.

Oxfam is currently moving to a One Oxfam structure. This role will lead on regional security issues for all Oxfam Affiliates operating in the region, starting initially under Oxfam GB line management before moving to the new Oxfam International structure.


About You

You will be an experienced security professional with expertise on the security context and trends in the Middle East and CIS region. You will have excellent understanding of the most volatile areas in the region and know how to manage security challenges within fragile and conflict afflicted areas. With proven field based experience you will have a sound understanding of how to advise and support staff both in the field and remotely.

Ideally Arabic speaking, you will be sensitive to cultural differences and working in a wide variety of cultural contexts. You will be someone committed to Oxfam principles and want to make a positive contribution to working with us to end poverty and injustice.
