ICS Global Security officer , Europe

Specifically, the Global Security Officer will be responsible for development, maintenance of security procedures and processes for Challenges Worldwide, including the preparation and provision of security training of both staff and volunteers and for incident management.

Essential Skills, Experience and Personal Qualities
Knowledge
Proven expertise in developing, reviewing and implementing security policies and guidance
Knowledge and understanding of security management in INGOs
A comprehensive understanding of Global Security management, key objectives and initiatives for the INGO community
Experience
Experience working in a multi-organisational programme or consortium
Proven experience ensuring compliance with safety and security policies and procedures
Experience conducting security risk assessments and developing customised, security assessment reports and action plans
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical skills and ability to identify trends and issues
Field experience in an international humanitarian/development setting with responsibility for safety and security desirable
Experience in working with young people and/or volunteers desirable
Skills
Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email/internet software.
Knowledge of SalesForce and JobScience desirable
Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels with consideration and respect for ethnicity and cultural diversity
Ability to effectively manage and prioritise own workload and adapt to fluctuating work demands
Proven ability to be flexible and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Experience of delivering training.

Main Duties
Systems and procedures
Development, maintenance and implementation of safety and security procedures and guidance for all ICS programme sites
Maintain and update CW security templates
Develop and maintain a security audit system for all countries to ensure compliance and accountability
Emergency Response and Crisis Management
Conduct accessibility tests twice a year ensuring all emergency contacts and information are up to date
Provide specific training and emergency drills to ensure robust crisis management procedures are in place
Hold the UK Emergency Phone
Develop and design emergency drills for CW Country Offices and the UK and support offices with implementation and testing
Manage responses to any crisis incidents in tandem with support from the crisis management team
Security Training
Develop and design emergency drills for CW Country Offices and the UK and support offices with implementation and testing
Conduct safety and security training for all relevant staff at Head Office and in country
Conduct pre-departure security training for UK volunteers and train in-country staff to deliver the equivalent training in each country
Advisory and Monitoring Services
Ensure that each CW office maintains accurate and up-to-date records and complies with all protocols and policies
Ensure all emergency information is up to date
Maintain an incident management system and ensure reporting of incidents to VSO
Monitor, analyse and act upon credible information and contextual analysis of safety and security issues affecting CW operations
Conduct security assessments and incident reviews
Maintain a contextual knowledge of each country’s situation
Networking
Develop and maintain effective relationships with relevant ICS Consortium members and VSO Country Offices
Day to day contact with and management of security issues of ICS Consortium members
Organise ICS Security Forum meetings
Attend the ICS Security Forum
As required, support and advise CW Country teams, and other senior managers, on safety and security issues and during emergencies
Other

Other duties as required, sometimes requiring work on weekends, for which time off in lieu can be taken.
Salary

£35,000 full-time, dependent on qualifications and experience.
