African Contingency Operations Training and Assistance - Peace Support Operations

Program: The ACOTA Program directly addresses a principle US policy objective in Africa - to increase African capacity to
fight terrorism and to prevent, mitigate, and resolve crises, conflict, and regional instability. 

The ACOTA program contains two   primary goals:

>>Enable African Militaries to develop and improve sustainable capacities to deploy and conduct peace support and
humanitarian relief operations in Africa and other areas of the world.
>>Improve African militaries' interoperability in order to facilitate sub-regional and regional operations.

Description (Staff Instructor):
>>Trains Battalion Commanders and their Staffs on TTPs for Peace Operations found in FM 3-07.31, Planning and Orders
Production found in FM 5.0, IPB/IPAO found in FM 34-130, and Command Post Operations as found in FM 7-20 associated
with Peace Support Operations in Africa.
>>Required to present classes and mentor staff officers during practical exercises. Strong teaching and staff mentoring skills
are essential.

Requirements (Staff Instructor):
>>Primary Staff Officer at the Battalion, Brigade or Group level; also Senior NCOs with Battle Staff or Operations/Intelligence
training and experience for Peace Operations Staff Training in Africa under the ACOTA program.
>>Must have the training and experience required to teach IPB, MDMP, Planning and Orders Production, Command Post
Operations and TTPs for Peace Operations.
>>Previous ACOTA or ACRI experience desired.
>>Recent OIF/OEF experience desired.
>>This position requires good physical condition with no existing chronic medical conditions.
>>Second language is desired, especially French.

Description (Unit Instructor):
>>Train leaders, Soldiers, Squads, Platoons and Companies on individual and collective tasks associated with Peace
Support Operations in Africa.
>>Required to present classes, mentor junior leaders, and demonstrate proficiency during cadre led iterations of training.
>>Sets the example for training unit members to emulate. Strong teaching and junior leader mentor skills are essential.

Requirements (Unit Instructor):
>>Must have experience in and be able to instruct the following; BRM, CQM, Movement formations and techniques, Infantry
squad and platoon battle drills, Convoy operations, CQM/CQB, C-IED, Recon, Checkpoint operations, crowd control, and
cordon and search.
>>ACRI or recent OIF/OEF experiences desired.
>>This position requires good physical condition with no existing chronic medical conditions.
>>Second language is desired, especially French.
