Job Introduction:
G4S RM have won the UNMAS contract for Provision of C-IED and EOD Training and Mentoring to UN troops in Mali.

Contract stands up in mid-April and therefore applicants will need to be able to deploy at short notice into Mali in early April.

Also a requirement for 2 x leave cover posts which will commence in May/June.

The Assistant Trainers for IED Threat and Explosive Risks Mitigation and Route Searchmust be fluent in French and have intermediate spoken English skills.



Role Responsibility:

Assistant Trainers will form part of mobile training teams which will deliver specific theory and practical training to MINUSMA personnel. The training will comprise, but are not limited to the following, in order of descending priority:

IED search and detect training for infantry troops
Expected delivery: 32 to 36 sessions per year.
8 battalions are French speaking, one is English speaking.
Instructor/student ratio: 2 trainers + 2 training assistants/20 students
Duration three (3) weeks covering the following training objectives

IED Threat in Mali

o Categories

o Emplacement

o Components

- IED Threat Mitigation procedures

o Ground sign

o 5/25 m drills

o Isolation drills

- Search Operations

o Vulnerable points

o Single route search

o Rolling route search

- Specialized equipment

o Minelab detector training

o VMR 3 GPR detector training

o Convoy and Tactical commander IED Threat and Explosive Risks Mitigation training

Expected delivery : 1 to 3 sessions per month

Instructor/student ratio: 1 senior instructor/30 students

Duration one (1) day covering the following training objectives:

- IED and mine threat in Mali

- Impact of this threat on movements

- IED threat and explosive risk mitigation tactical approach

Duration one (1) day covering the following training objectives

- IED and mine threat in Mali

- Impact of this threat on operations

- IED threat and explosive risk mitigationoperational and tactical approach

- IED threat and explosive risk mitigation planning and preparation considerations

IED and Explosive Threat Mitigation training for at-risk troops and police
Expected delivery: 30 sessions per year
Instructor/student ratio: 1 instructor + 1 training assistant/30 to 50 students
Duration three (3) days covering the following training objectives;
IED’s in Mali; Main IED components, Construction and IED operating principles
Mine threats and components in Mali
Military explosives, HME
Current threats & methods of attack, cordons, safety measures, evacuation drills, protection
IED indicators, vulnerable points, checks, halt procedures, convoys
Action on IED attacks, action on mine threats

IED awareness / SSAFE
Expected delivery: occasionally
Instructor/student ratio: 1 medical trainer + 1 IED Mitigation trainer/20 students
Duration: 1 ½ days to 2 days


The Ideal Candidate:

​Must have either a qualification in providing C-IED training

OR documented experience in providing C-IED training

OR documented experience in providing tactical C-IED

OR have 3 years’ experience as a convoy platoon commander with operational experience in an IED Threat environment.
