Job Description
SOSi is seeking a Badging Linguist. The Badging Linguist provides interpretation, transcription, and translation services in support of ongoing operations affiliated with the Security Department at the Camp Taji, Iraq.
Essential Job Duties:
• Conducts accurate and consecutive translation, transcription, and interpretation from Arabic into English and vice versa
• Translates various syntax and expressions to include colloquial and slang phrases from English to Arabic and vice versa
• Provides advice on cultural and ethnic significance of statements, conversations, situations, and documents
• Accurately scans, researches, and analyzes foreign language (Arabic) documents
• Meets with individuals to gather relevant information for the Security Department
• Reviews documents and paperwork as and when required
• Analyzes Arabic record checks, and other information necessary for employee process
• Completes a written record of the investigation of Host Country Nationals to enable the Badging office to make accurate security adjudication decisions
• Prepares and types clear concise written reports in a timely manner, free of grammatical and spelling errors
• Liaisons with Iraqi Military as required
• Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
• Minimum 2 years of experience developing and writing Reports
• Must have a proficiency in Arabic and English speaking, writing, interpreting and translating - Native proficiency preferred
• Extensive knowledge of Arabic culture with previous work in the region
• Ability to understand the essentials of all speech in standard dialect and vocabulary rarely requiring the need for paraphrasing or explanation
• Familiarity with the local culture and customs with the ability to operate within the local populace on site
• Basic understanding of Security System administration functions
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

• Living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
• Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
• Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
