Job Purpose:

The Senior Manager Security assists the Head – Security Services on all issues relating to the execution of the Business Unit’s objectives and operations including the delivery of cost effective, consistent, compliant and excellence in security services across the Transguard Group and to all their partners, clients and customers.

This role includes financial accountability and management in-line with budgets and objectives; developing, reviewing, implementing and the maintenance of all security related standard operating procedures to ensure Transguard maintains local statutory compliance; ensuring training standardisation and staff development; provision of consistent high profile links with senior client management to ensure security is delivered in adherence to best practice, customers’ expectation, and aligned with Transguard’s high profile and the maintenance of Transguard’s positive image.

This is an active and visible role requiring effective leadership and management, an ability to develop and sustain excellent customer/client relationships, sound supply management skills and commercial management skills. The Senior Manager Security will be expected to positively contribute to the strategic direction, performance, growth and profitability of the business unit and will fully support the Head - Security Services achieving and maintaining the below objectives.

Job Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
Take the enthusiastic lead on a given area(s) of Operational Excellence, delivering sustainable improvements across Transguard Security Services.
To champion compliance with all security related statutory, IMS and relevant company and client policies generating a true health and safety culture.
To indirectly lead the Security Team in the consistent delivery of operational security solutions across a business unit or a large and complex area.
Develop, maintain and when appropriate deliver security related training.
Drive implementation of best practices across contracts by establishing performance metrics that promote excellence and best practices.
Interrogate performance metrics for existing contracts, in conjunction with the Operational Team to evaluate existing performance, risk and establish whether we are fulfilling our contractual obligations.
Work with the Bid Team to support the security strategy of our bids, ensuring a balance of maximising profit whilst minimising risk.
Act as a role model for people management processes ensuring they are followed to clarify objectives, actively management performance and develop skills.
To manage excellent relationships with clients, our suppliers and other partners.
To lead, recruit, develop and retain staff to deliver services in the most efficient and effective manner.
To set objectives for direct reports and review on a quarterly basis. Ensure same approach and mechanisms for all staff within area of responsibility.
To ensure direct reports understand business objectives and customers’ requirements.
To lead excellent communications with and motivation for all staff.
Support the development of business wide security initiatives including contract renewal and cost reduction strategies, contract management plans & customer improvement plans.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assisting with the Leadership of Transguard Security Services, setting consistent, compliant and excellent service delivery across all contracts
Set Security training and development plans for all employees
Sets direction for their department, contracts or area of responsibility
Operates independently within working parameters set by the Head of Department
Manages security related Health and Safety policy and standards.


FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Work within predetermined budgetary guidelines for security services at BU Level
Responsible for compliance to relevant Corporate Governance standards
Ensuring compliance with Transguard Group financial policy and standards
Promotes innovative ways to add value and reduce costs within the team

PEOPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Overall people responsibility, training and development, for security personnel on all contracts. However it will be the responsibility of the operational team to deploy and actively manage security personnel at local level
Determines resource requirements and allocates appropriate resource
Identifies people related risks and suggests solutions

Working Relationship (list the working relationship and interaction with internal and external party)
Develop a good working relationship with the client and hold regular client meetings to ensure the smooth running of the contract.
Undertake site visits to view staff performance and discuss and resolve any issues raised by the client regarding the quality of the service.
Manage Account & Operations Managers.
Hold staff meetings, monthly or as required.
Conduct site visits to view staff performance and help to motivate staff.
Arrange and conduct site specific induction and training of new staff.
Resolve staff issues together with relevant departments, including salary discrepancies, emergency leave, reallocation of staff to other contracts, accidents, etc.
Monitor staff performance and nominate staff for the ‘Employee of the Month’ award.
Monitor that the service delivered is within the contract terms. If not discuss variations with the client and Head – Security Services
Explore further business opportunities with the client.


Desired Skills and Experience
Outstanding communication skills including strong negotiating, influencing and listening skills

Must have a professional approach and motivated to succeed
Technical skills which include: strong and immediately effective communications skills, excellent IT and administration skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), good numeracy skills and excellent written and verbal communication/record keeping skills
Possess excellent time management, administration and problem solving skills
Ability to work as part of a team towards individual and team targets
Accurate and detailed record keeping
Access to a car with a full and clean driving licence due to significant travel across the region
