Job Description:
Responsible for providing armed security, safeguarding facilities, access control, screening, visitor processing, conducting patrols and control center operations;
Protect property from theft or damage, or persons from hazards or interference;
Serve at a fixed post, making round on foot, bicycle or motor vehicle, parking enforcement, escorting persons or property and other duties as needed;
Enforce regulations designed to prevent breaches of security;
Exercise judgment and use discretion in dealing with first response situations.
Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises;
Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences;
Inspect packages and perform vehicle inspections.
QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this position requires U.S. Citizenship status;
Must be 21 years of age or older;
Must be able to obtain a valid Firearms License in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico;
Must be able to obtain a valid Security Guard License in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico;
Must be able to qualify with 40 cal. Handgun and 12 gauge Shotgun;
Must possess a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) from an accredited institution recognized by U.S. Department of Education;
Must meet at least one of the following experience/education requirements:
Two years’ prior experience as a State certified security guard and have documentation to confirm this requirement (experience does not have to be consecutive); OR
Two year degree in Law Enforcement from a recognized college, or has successfully completed a Police Officer Standards and Training Basic or Reserve Training Course 832 course; OR
Appropriate military training;
Must be able to speak, understand, read and write the English language at a minimum of the 12th grade level;
Must be able to speak English with sufficient structural accuracy and vocabulary to participate effectively in formal and informal conversations on practical, social and professional topics with visitors and Government employees;
Must be able to understand detailed written orders, training instructions and materials, and be able to compose reports that convey complete information;
Capable of passing a physical fitness test, health exam, background investigation and periodic drug test;
Willing to work various shifts, including nights and some holidays;
Must have a professional appearance.
