Missile / Precision Guided Munitions (PGM) Technician

Job Summary


Missile/Precision Guided Munitions (PGM) Technician will inspect, maintain, assemble, disassemble, repair, and test assigned missiles (air-to-air and air-ground), other PGM, associated components, training items, support equipment and containers IAW AFI 21-201 and pertinent technical data. The technician will also carry out all duties in accordance with DynCorp ISO 9000 Quality and Safety Standards.

Principal Accountabilities
Consistently observes and enforces all USAF and host nation explosives safety, AFOSH, and security standards during all explosives and non-explosives operations in assigned sites and TDY locations.
In the event of an emergency, takes necessary control and timely response actions.
Maintain proficiency to operate and inspect diversified electronic missile/PGM test equipment, PMEL calibrated tools, and all Munitions Material Handling Equipment (MMHE).
Conduct all missile/PGM work according to established quality processes, identifying potential problems and recommending solutions.
Inspects and tests live/captive missiles, PGMs and associated components at required technical data intervals
Maintain, assembles/disassembles, processes, and modifies unguided and precision guided missiles according to tech data.
Complete system repairs, alignments and calibration requirements, remove and install components, to include circuit board replacement
Interpret system specifications, schematics, and drawings to troubleshoot and diagnose system malfunctions to determine fault, corrective actions, make repairs, and identify adverse trends.
Perform physical verification of the material, condition code, lot, serial number, DOM, NSN, and DODIC to missile and CAS records during any maintenance action and takes corrective actions IAW assigned processes.
Perform organizational and intermediate level, to include reconstitution, Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) actions on electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical missile/PGM systems, including associated support equipment.
Prepare assets for redistribution to theater and/or retrograde to CONUS, to include completion of required documentation
Initiate, prepare, maintain, process and update forms and historical records including those maintained in a Maintenance Information System; i.e. TMRS, CAS, etc.
Assists inspecting PGM assets in accordance with 11A-1-10 and applicable technical orders.
Operate Combat Ammunition System (CAS) as is applicable to the Missile Element processes and authorized access rights.
Inspect, operate and perform maintenance on light vehicles and handling equipment such as, forklifts, pallet jacks, and manual hoists
Inspect and operate metal strapping equipment, stencil machines, heat sealers, pneumatic paint guns, air compressors, power tools, and other equipment required by technical data
Inspects and perform minor maintenance on facilities and installed equipment. Cleans vehicles, equipment and facilities
Performs other duties assigned by the PGM Crew Chief and/or Element Supervisor.

Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of the USAF Supply and Tech Order systems
Experience with at least two of the following systems: AIM-9/AIM-120/AGM-65/GBU-15/AGM-88/AGM-130
Computer literate
Must be capable of obtaining a host nation driver's license.
SECRET Security Clearance required.

Experience & Education
Four years experience with USAF Military Munitions of which at least two are with missiles, PGMs, and associated components; attendance at formal USAF Field Training Detachment formalized training preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Physically capable of performing all required duties; capable of lifting 50 lbs and perform extensive work using handling/lifting equipment.
