Screening Requirements
Education: A degree or diploma from a recognized university or post-secondary institution. Applicants with an acceptable combination of education, training and experience may also be considered.

Language: Fluency in English and Arabic (read, write and speak); Competency in French is considered an asset (not mandatory).

Experience: Experience working with or liaising with organizations in an official capacity; Minimum of two years recent experience working in an international organization or company; Experience managing financial information and working with computers and standard Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Job Summary
The Embassy of Canada has a requirement for a Defence Attache Program Officer based at our office in Baghdad. Under the immediate supervision of the Defence Attache Assistant, the employee conducts research and drafts reports for Iraq; provides program support at the Embassy in Baghdad; liaises with local officials; creates and maintains networks with other security organizations in Iraq; provides translation, facilitation and interpretation services; assists in coordinating Canadian military overflight requirements and bilateral military training requirements; and manages office finances

Excellent knowledge of Iraqi government organizations and institutions (specifically military);
Knowledge of budget planning and management;
Knowledge of general office procedures (text preparation and formatting, handling correspondence, letters, emails and filing) and office software packages (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel).

Working conditions
The candidate is required to work directly with western military forces and with the Iraq Armed Forces. Must be available to work periodic evenings or weekends during emergency periods. 

Conditions of Employment
A valid work permit;
Signature of a non-disclosure agreement between the Canadian Armed Forces and the candidate.
The appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to Medical Clearance and Reliability Status Check (RS) obtained by Management. To conduct the Reliability Status Check (RS), the candidate must submit the following documents on being selected by the Mission.
Police clearance certificate;
professional and educational mark sheets and certificates;
passport;
birth Certificate;
4 x Passport photos;
letter(s) of reference;
