The HSSI SSP Physical Security/Crime Prevention Specialist is a full-time non-exempt employee responsible for developing, coordinating, and conducting physical security and crime prevention program services; which may include operations security and industrial security programs, security surveys/inspections, and emergency planning in support of the Provost Marshal’s Office (PMO)/Marine Corps Police Department (MCPD). . This is not an armed, non-guard position but may require inspection of facilities containing weapons and/or munitions, therefore, per the Lautenberg Amendment, the successful applicant can NOT have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence IAW Title 18, U.S.C., Section 922(g). The SSP Physical Security/Crime Prevention Specialist reports directly to the Homeland Security Solutions, Inc. (HSSI) Site Supervisor.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to successfully complete (upon being hired) a United States Marine Corps approved physical security course.
Ability to effectively conduct security inspections, analyze facts and prepare reports.
Ability to use computer software applications including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Power-Point, databases and e-mail.
Possess excellent organizational and file management skills and the ability to plan and execute administrative work with little or no supervision.
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
Possess excellent typing abilities and the skill to prepare documents accurately with minimal errors.
Ability to read and analyze construction plans and documents.
Ability to professionally interact with customers, colleagues and command members at all levels; and to foster positive business relationships.
Ability to learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation or through on-the-job training.
Ability to work (mission essential) regardless of weather conditions, Force Protection Condition, or installation closure and to report to the duty station at the regularly scheduled time; work rotating shifts, work overtime on an emergency basis and other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and may be recalled to duty.
Ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds, and work in confined, window-less spaces. OSHA approved training and certification may be required before climbing and working at various heights.
Ability to safely drive a motor vehicle.


Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a high level of trust and confidence and as such the applicant must meet several pre-employment requirements.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Must successfully pass initial drug screening and periodic follow-up testing.
Must possess or be able to obtain, if necessary, a “secret” security clearance.
Must successfully complete an HSSI background check.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
Must successfully complete a National Agency Check with Written Inquiries (NACI).
One year experience/knowledge working in a security/police environment is desired.
Must have 20/20 correctable vision in each eye.
