JOB CONTEXT:
At our head office, programmes are managed by two separate operating divisions:

the Development Division (DAD);
the Humanitarian Action Division (DAH);
in close cooperation with the Technical Resources Division (DRT).

The Technical Resources Division (DRT) consists of six units that provide technical support and a framework for Handicap International’s 60 programmes around the world, to ensure the quality of our methodologies and interventions.

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

Reporting to the Director of Technical Resources Division, your main objective is to steer the strategic technical sector for the Association consistent with Handicap International’s values and mission:

• develop programme activities in this sector;

• guarantee the Association’s professionalism in this sector, the quality of activities and the resulting international reputation;

• move the sector forward through innovation and the identification of new professional fields.

You will take on the following responsibilities in priority order:


Responsibility 1: Develop and ensure compliance with professional positioning and standards, recognition and visibility of Handicap International’s expertise in its field;


Responsibility 2: Structure and coordinate the team of three technical advisers;


Responsibility 3: Mobilise programmes/missions to appropriate and implement orientations on your field;


Responsibility 4: Contribute to Handicap International’s HR strategy in your field.

REQUIRED PROFILE:
You have 5 to 10 years’ experience in reduction of armed violence.
You are an expert in community conflict prevention/transformation; humanitarian mine action; security systems reform; arms control.
You speak good English; French is an asset.
You have sound representation and writing skills.
You display sound management and teaching skills.

Type of contract: Permanent contract to start May 2016
Salary: From €3,100/month gross, over 12 months
