Responsibilities and Duties
The primary goal of this program is to provide subject matter expertise and training support to assist Combined Security Transition Command Afghanistan (CSTC-A) and NATO Special Operations Component Command-Afghanistan (NSOCC-A) through Special Operations Task Force- Afghanistan (SOTF-A) and Afghan National Army Special Operations Command-Special Operations Advisory Group (ANASOC-SOAG), in the execution of their mission. The mission is to train ANASOC units to perform their duties and responsibilities independent of Coalition assistance. This program is currently programmed as an Enduring Mission.

The SOE/SFQC Mortars, FO and FDC Trainer shall train their counterpart on the following tasks:
Constructs and camouflages a mortar firing position.
Maintains mortars and fire control equipment.
Performs safety checks on mortars. Performs as a member of a mortar squad providing indirect fire support.
Leads and controls mortar squads.
Supervises and trains subordinate personnel.
Provides tactical and technical guidance to subordinates and professional support to subordinates and superiors in the accomplishment of their duties.
Supervises the construction of mortar positions.
Records operational information on maps.
Receives and implements combat orders; directs deployment of personnel in offensive, defensive, and retrograde operations.
Requests, observes, and adjusts indirect supporting fire.
Supervises subordinate personnel in all phases of individual and mortar equipment maintenance.
Uses map and map overlays, performs intersection and resection, and determines elevations and grid azimuth.
Prepares fire plans, target lists and overlays.
Prepares and computes firing data using below pivot point and grid method.
Reciprocally lay mortars. Prepares mortar ballistic computer for operation

Minimum Tangible Qualifications:  
Be an Army Senior NCO or above, ITC graduate
Military occupational specialty 11 C/A or service equivalent
Possesses strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with peers, direct reports, and supervisors at all times.
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)


Applicants must be able to pass CENTCOM medical, dental and other CRC-related deployment requirements at an approved CRC. Applicants must be in possession of a current/active US tourist Passport (with further eligibility to receive – if not already in possession of – a current Afghanistan visa). If candidate is already deployed, he/she must supply appropriate documentation satisfying these requirements along with confirmation that he/she is in physical possession of government-issued PPE to demonstrate compliance with CENTCOM deployment requirements.
Willing to work and live in Afghanistan and understand they can be further assigned to any location in Afghanistan based upon the needs of the U.S. Government
Willingness to work in hostile areas without a weapon
Willingness to deploy and live on forward operating bases without regular U.S. Post/Base Exchange and Commissary facilities.
Previous experience training foreign military soldiers.
Deployed operational experience in support of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT)

Preferred Qualifications:   
Operational OEF military experience
Experience training Afghans on mortar tactics/techniques/procedures.
60/81mm mortar background.
Must have 5 years military background in US Military Mortar operations
Be an Army Senior NCO or above, ITC graduate
