Shift Supervisor

Reports To:  Captain of Guards

Summary:The Shift Supervisor (SS) is primarily responsible to ensure that contractual obligations are met during respective shifts. The SS is responsible for exercising leadership, maintaining high morale, and directing & inspecting the performance of security personnel assigned to the shift. This includes scheduling the shift work distribution and training, answering of Security Officer’s questions related to work, and solving shift problems with minimum supervision. The SS is the direct liaison between the Armed Security Guards (ASG) and the Captain of Guards (COG). The SS is directly accountable to the COG. The SS may be armed with a side arm, shotgun, or other weapons as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Required to follow all company personnel and safety policies, and perform all assigned duties in a safe work manner.

· Must have complete knowledge of the site, all buildings and facilities, post orders, emergency contact list, emergency procedures, special instructions and all post duties at the site as they relate to their respective shifts.

· Administers instructions to all security personnel assigned to their shift and assures that all officers assigned to their shift are familiar with the facility and their duties. Will also be certain that all officers assigned to their shift receive and understand new, changed, or special instructions.

· Accountable for the proper use and maintenance of all equipment used at the site by the officers assigned to the shift.

· Manages the staffing of posts during the shift in order to ensure complete coverage. This includes, but is not limited to, coverage for vacations, illness, and call-offs.

· Will promptly notify the COG of all unusual or emergency situations according to post orders and company policy.

· Will ensure that officers assigned to their shift make timely and thorough logbook entries. The SS audits all logbook entries for completeness, accuracy and legibility.

· Prepares written reports for submission to the COG for all injuries involving security personnel assigned to the site. All reports concerning incidents compromising security such as thefts and break-ins, as well as all significant incidents involving security personnel will be submitted to the COG.

· Conducts unannounced inspections on their shift in order to assess assigned officer performance.

· Must be able to work flexible hours to include weekends and holidays.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervisor of all Armed Security Guards on shift.

Minimum Qualifications: 
(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Supervisory experience preferably with a civilian police force, military police force, or civilian security guard organization.
Minimum of two years’ experience as a full time employee of a civilian law enforcement agency, military police, or government or civilian security guard organization or minimum of two years military experience in specified military occupational specialties in which the military tour of duty included duties involving security, force protection, weapons proficiency, protecting property, maintaining law and order, protecting lives or other duties similar in nature (i.e., Military Police, Infantry, Special Forces, Security Forces, Communications, War Veteran, etc).
Honorably discharged (If Applicable)
Active Secret Clearance Required
Successfully completed all training and have obtained all required permits, licenses, certifications and security clearances for the site.
Possess significant background, either through experience and/or education, in basic security guard procedures including supervision policies and procedures.
Possess experience in making decisions affecting security personnel in accordance with policies & procedures.
Be able to meet any Federal, State, or Municipal requirements to work as an Armed Security Guard.
Have no record or history of illegal drug use, sale, possession, or manufacture during the previous five years.
Have no felony convictions and no convictions that reflect on the individual’s reliability including those crimes classified under the Lautenburg Act.
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills to engender rapport with military personnel, civilians, and other contracts at all levels of government.
Knowledge of national security program directives and standards is a must.
Knowledge of Microsoft applications and programs.
Excellent writing and speaking skills are essential.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment.
During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
