The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organisation with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs.

The NRC Security Section, Head Office, Oslo, is now recruiting a Security Advisor (SA) for Training & Development. The SA will work on both technical and strategic levels, and be responsible for the planning and delivery of the NRC Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) Course and the NRC Security Management Training System (SMTS) in Norway and overseas. These are very high standard and complex courses, delivered in a multilingual and multicultural setting. The SA will also contribute to the continued development of NRC Security training, which will be delivered on all levels in the organization. These courses and individual modules are delivered several times per year, and is of varying duration. The SA is also expected to undertake extensive travel and other operational duties in the field. The Security Section offer good performance based mobility within the Section. The SA will report to the NRC Security Section Senior Safety and Security Adviser.

Job description
Planning, coordination and delivery of the NRC HEAT course, SMTS and other trainings in Norway and overseas, to include development of new locations.
Prepare and submit training reports for all training conducted;
Oversee and manage operational course related logistics and budget requirements;
Develop marketing tools and ideas for the continued marketing of NRC course products for external and internal use;
Temporary gap-filling for absences in Security Adviser posts as necessary;
Assist in crisis management when necessary;
Other training, development and operational duties as assigned by the SSSA;

Qualifications
Strong and documented training development and delivery experience;
Minimum 4 years of experience from military service;
Previous experience from UN / NATO assignments;
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts, with humanitarian, UN or CIMIC role actors;
Documented experience related to the position’s responsibilities;
Security Management and / or management experience is an asset;
Minimum leadership experience on team level or higher;
Ability and willingness to work and live under difficult circumstances;
Experienced in the use of common computer and data tools;
Valid driver’s license class B and C as minimum.
Candidate must be proficient in one Scandinavian, as well as English language presentation, both verbal and written. Other languages are strong assets.

We offer
Contract period: 12 months
