Explosive Detection Dog Handler/Narcotic Detection Dog Handler , Middle East

Position Summary: The Explosive Detection Dog Handlers/Narcotic Detection Dog Handler is responsible for the recognition of IED's and explosive materials and ensuring the safety of all personnel while assigned to their area of duty. This position is connected with the upcoming K-BOSSS rebid at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait.

Essential Functions:
The EDD/NDD Handler is responsible for searching for unauthorized munitions and explosive devices at designated ECPs and other locations on ASG-KU facilities, as well as conducting random patrol activities IAW PMO policies
EDD/NDD Handlers are responsible for searching for unauthorized drugs at designated ECPs and other locations on ASG-KU facilities, as well as conducting random patrol activities IAW PMO guidance
All EDD/NDD Handlers will be responsible for providing emergency response services as needed

Non-Essential Functions:

Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned according to the needs of the customer/client

Job Requirements
Crucial Requirements and Abilities:

The contract requires you to be a U.S. Citizen must be at least 21 years of age
Must hold active DOD Secret Clearance -OR- must have the ability to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance
The EDD/NDD teams shall consist of one trained handler and one trained canine IAW AR 190-12 and shall be trained together before being presented for certification
EDD/NDD Handlers shall be trained to the same standards as taught at Lackland, AFB and preferably have completed a DOD-recognized school
EDD/NDD handlers shall be familiarized with the detection of explosives or drugs hidden in billeting and office areas as well as mission oriented locations (e.g., aircraft, ship, warehouses, etc.)
EDD/NDD Handlers must develop an understanding of what odors the dog is able to detect and determine the different changes in the dog's behavior when the EDD is detecting an explosive device or other substances that are not explosive in nature, such as containers, wrappings, tapes, etc. EDDs provided under this contract will be trained to work on leash and certified on 9 of the following 10 explosives:
Military dynamite
Water gel (Tovex)
TNT (trinitrotoluene)
Smokeless powder
C-4 plastic explosive
Detonating cord
Potassium chlorate (pharmaceutical)
Sodium chlorate (pharmaceutical)
Semtex (post-certification training requirement)
Commercial dynamite (either Gelatin or ammonium nitrate)
EDD/NDD Handlers must develop an understanding of what odors the dog is able to detect and determine the different changes in the dog's behavior when the NDD is detecting a drug or other substances that are not controlled substance in nature, such as containers, wrappings, tapes, etc. NDDs provided under this contract will be trained to work on-leash and certified on all five (5) of the following drugs:
Marijuana
Cocaine
Hashish
Heroin
MDMA (ecstasy)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Physically able to perform all duties, functions, and activities
Free from communicable diseases, in general good health
Vision correctable to 20/30, not color blind and no hearing loss
Pass physical exam, meet Army height and weight standards, pass an Army physical fitness test
Be able to pass a background investigation
Literate in English, able to write reports
Graduate of DoD certified (i.e. Lackland AFB) dog handler training for Explosives
Detector or Narcotic Detection or equivalent

Physical Demands: The physical demands listed below, though not fully inclusive, are that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a long period of time. The employee is frequently required to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
